GZU film Solo naMutsai on the cards

The Great Zimbabwe University department of Performing Arts in partnership with the Masvingo Theatre and Arts club has come up with an educative and entertaining film called Solo naMutsai, which is the first ever film to be produced by the University. Solo naMutsai presents the pressures of student life and how these young people handle such pressures. It encompasses themes of love, class and perseverance.

The producer of the film, Julia Yule, who is also a theatre lecturer at the University highlighted that the film will be a great way of marketing the University. She further said that, the film will make the students reflect on personal choices they make and how they will affect their lives after University.

Alluding to the Zimbabwean film industry in general, Yule stated that ‘in terms of the film industry we have so many players who are doing their best in producing good works, it’s just that the economy is challenging but the talent is out there, those in film should not tire and should share stories that change people’s lives’. Solo naMutsai premieres on the 19th of May, at the Charles Austin theatre in Masvingo at 1900hrs. Admission for students and University staff is free, so be sure not to miss this groundbreaking initiative.
