OyOsmusic and Star fm have come up with a way to keep track of online music sales and encourage people to buy their favorite tracks by introducing the top 5 most downloaded songs.
The OyOs online music store initiative has been instrumental in curbing music piracy in Zimbabwe by encouraging people to buy music online. In a star fm interview prior to the announcement of the top 5 songs, music producer McDee expressed his appreciation for this online music store. He noted that OyOs is an awesome platform and probably what the Zimbabwean music industry has been waiting for. He lamented on how musicians have continuously fallen prey to piracy whereby artists invest time and money to release songs but get no returns. McDee described OyOs as a ray of hope for artists.
